TrueWest Imports is pleased to offer this great looking 2 Owner 1975 MGB Roadster in Red with Black interior and Black convertible top.
The MGB sports car was launched by MG Cars (“Morris Garages”, then part of the British Motor Corporation) in May 1962 replacing the MGA model. It is a very conventionally engineered car, with tough and well proven mechanical components. A 1798 cc powerplant was chosen to power the vehicle. With the 95 horsepower engine, the MGB easily exceeded 100 mph.
For 1975 larger wheels raised the car slightly which with new bumpers ensured compliance with increasingly prescriptive safety requirements in the US.
The MGB is such a popular classic choice because it simply ticks all the right boxes. It is cheap enough to consider as a daily driver, and it doesn’t arouse the same kind of jealousy in others that something like a Porsche or Jaguar can. Everything you need to keep a B running sweetly is freely available.
This classic example of its marque has been stored in a dry Californian garage for the last 20 years but has been started and driven occasionally, so the engine and drivetrain remain sound.
The Roadster’s exterior original paint is in good condition but shows some light scratches due to being in storage. The body panels are straight and solid with no visible signs of rust. The stainless steel body side mouldings, chrome Luggage Rack and twin chrome outside mirrors are in very good condition. The raised ride height (also introduced in 1975 to enable MG to comply with the new US standards) makes getting in and out of the car very easy. Very minimal surface rust appears underneath the vehicle.
The Black interior appears factory stock and in good condition for its age. The Black Vinyl folding top is in good condition. It does, however, have one small tear. New carpets have been fitted. Full Console with Storage Compartment and factory gauges and shifter. Factory 7000 RPM Tachometer and original 120 mph speedometer. All accessories, including stereo radio are in good working order. The original driver’s manual is also included.
There is enough elbow room in the MG to mean you don’t have to be on intimate terms with your passenger. And in an age when modern cars are designed ever more closely around a mythical average driver, those who taller than the average will still find enough room when the roof is up.
The proven and economical 1,798cc 4 cylinder with all synchronized easy shifting 4 speed Gear Box shows 66,170 original miles. There is a fully independent suspension for great ride and handling along with a dual hydraulic Self Adjusting Disc Braking System still in good condition. Direct Rack and Pinion Steering makes for quick response. It has the Factory Correct 14 inch wheels and matching Radial Tyres. The top engine seal has been replaced and the fuel tank flushed and a new fuel pump has been fitted. The motor starts very easy and runs cool. Overall mechanically this car is in very good condition.
Although this car does need some TLC, it is a really good example of one of the most drivable and affordable classic cars to come out of England.
The price listed is in US$ but I can provide you with an all-inclusive “as landed” cost to have this great example of an MGB imported to Fremantle or any other Port in Australia or New Zealand.
