TrueWest Imports is pleased to have the opportunity to offer for sale this 1965 Ford Falcon Ranchero.
This is not an Australian Ford XP ute. It is a Ranchero, the style which the Americans call a coupe-pickup. Unlike a pickup truck (like an F-100), the Ranchero was adapted from a two-door station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body.
A benefit that the Ranchero offers to owners, which is not available on Australian made utes is that because it is based on a station wagon platform, there is a lot of space behind the driver and passenger seats (which would have been the foot-well of the rear passengers of a station wagon).
This 65 Ranchero is rock solid and rust free and mostly original. It has all original sheet metal and the red interior has aged extremely gracefully. It has been refreshed mechanically so that it performs and drives like new. The floor pans, frame rails are very good, as this vehicle has been cared for and maintained in Idaho.
It has received a new, professional, paint job in factory White and the stainless steel has received a good buff and polish.
It also has period correct styled wheel covers with spinners.
The Ranchero is powered by the “Thrift Power” inline 6 cylinder 170 cu. in. (2.8L) engine (105 hp) mated to a “3 on the tree” manual gearbox.
While El Caminos can be found quite readily here in Australia, the Ford Rancheros are something of a rarer sight.
This vehicle will have people scratching their heads wondering whether it is a ute or something custom.
Great interest value at a great price.
