TrueWest Imports presents this beautiful example of the 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic “88 Series” 4-Door Sedan. This is a very, very, nice classic car.
All Oldsmobiles were completely restyled for 1959 with a longer, lower and wider body on the basic GM B-body, which for the first time was used on all of General Motors’ standard-sized cars from the lowest-priced Chevrolet to the most-expensive Cadillac. Styling highlights for the new models, promoted as the “Linear Look,” included six-window styling on four-door pillared sedans.
The 1959 “88 Series” Sedan was one of Oldsmobile’s biggest and brawniest. This beautiful example has fantastic lines and looks great with its fresh factory spec paint scheme. The fins aren’t as silly as on a Cadillac of the same year, and the hood edges, chrome, and extra-long fin ridge give the car motion even when it parked. Add to that a matching new interior and a 371 cubic-inch Rocket V8 and we love the combination.
This Oldsmobile has undergone a complete frame off restoration. It was sandblasted, the chassis is coated in Eastwood ceramic black, epoxy primed and one stage paint on the bottom and repainted with base coat and clear over the factory spec Golden Mist Metallic paint colour. All glass is in excellent condition. The exterior chrome is also in excellent condition and the vehicle comes with a new set of tyres and 1959 Series “98” Olds spinner hub caps and much more.
New factory OEM era correct cloth and vinyl interior. New headliner and new carpet over 50mm “Fat Mat” sound deadener, which is 100mm thick over the transmission tunnel. It has Mark 4 under-dash ice cold air-conditioning and 6-way power seats. All interior lighting works as it should. The Original AM radio is in good working order. You even get the original set of keys.
Has the Original 6.1 litre/371 cu in. Rocket V8 engine bored .030, electronic ignition (Pertronix conversion) stock appearing with high output coil, rebuilt generator, new fan belts, new radiator hoses, new dual exhaust Flowmaster 50 series mufflers (nice tone). Show restored 4bbl Rochester 4GC carburettor, new wheel cylinders, brake hoses, stainless brake & fuel lines, master cylinder re-sleeved , new suspension to include, ball joints, a-plate bushings, moog front coil springs, gas shocks and leaf springs. Power steering box and pump resealed.
The 4 speed Hydromatic gearbox has no problems and changes through the gears smoothly and cleanly.
Full documentation includes photos and video. It also comes with many extra parts. This car drives like a dream and get looks and complementary comments everywhere it’s driven.
The 1959 Oldsmobiles were as long ignored as the 1957-1958s, but stronger value appreciation potential now reflects increased collector interest, especially among younger enthusiasts.
